BI Client Tools by SQL

Hi All,

Please advise which client tools get connected to HANA by SQL

(webi, crytal repots, dashboards, explorer, AAO,AAP)

Is MDX based connection uses SQL?

Is Universe based connects uses SQL?

Is BICS bsed connection uses SQL?

I have gone through below thread, however it states everything connects through SQL

Please clarify
