SPS09 stability issues

Hi All

I am busy implementing a hybrid BW 7.4 and HANA Enterprise BI solution.

Currently preparing to go to QA and still busy with some final sprint developments.

Go-Live is scheduled for 1 July 2015.

I have upgraded HANA from Rev84 to Rev92 early this year and recently ran into an issue where my Indexserver would not restart and this resulted in 2.5 days downtime while SAP investigated.

SAP has suggested that I downgrade from Rev92 to Rev85 as this is now the recommended production DSP.

I now have to weigh up the pros and cons before making this call:

  • I would like to use the SDI, but will resort to Data Services should I downgrade.
    • See that there is a nice article (Thomas Jung) on using SDI for slowly changing dimensions, but will lose this if downgrading.

  • I currently use SQL in scripted Calcviews to speed up development time after reading an article where the author (Rich Heilman) recommends using SQL instead of CE functions going forward from SPS09. Not sure of the performance impact this would have.

  • The replace data source functionality in the Studio means that I can now edit graphically created CV models more efficiently than before

  • Performance - SPS09 reports to have a 20% performance improvement over SPS08.
  • Etc, Etc.........

Anyone else have a similar story around the stability of SPS09 or comments on the recommendation?
