Dear all,
Can i get detail about HANA on VMware?
I have read notes 1788665 and FAQ document, but can't find the supported version.
Just now I got information from IBM Redbook:
The Standard edition supports up to 8 vCPUs per VM, which is below the number of vCPUs of the smallest SAP HANA VM size. Therefore, this edition cannot be used.
I mean, for non-production instance, 8CPU is enough for one VM right?
Is there information from SAP that minimum vCPU should be more than 8?
Sizing document says 300 SAPS per user for CPU, so I go from there.
Now IBM states otherwise: In VMware, it is divided by so-called 'slot', where one slot cover 10vCPU and 64GB memory.
The SAP HANA Virtualization FAQ states that SAP allows multiple
virtual machines to be installed using a concept of slots.
Each slot is a virtual machine created with 10 virtual CPUs (vCPUs) and 64 GB
memory.
SAP HANA Virtualization FAQ as in notes 1788665 doesn't mention any slots.
Is it vendor-specific rule? Marketing strategy?
Need clarification here.
